The Ottawa Fat Cats hosted the Toronto Maple leafs and the Barrie Baycats this week-end.
In game one on Friday night, the Cats pounded out 16 hits to roll over the Leafs 12-4. Ottawa’s big hitters were Mark Charette who went four for four, including a triple driving in two runs, while Jason Coker went three for five including two doubles, driving in three runs. Brandon Huffman was the winning pitcher, with Adam Garner taking the loss for the Baycats
Game two on Saturday afternoon proved to be very much the same as game one, however this time it was Toronto that won over Ottawa in a lopsided 9-1 win. The Leaf’s designated hitter Dylan Harkness did the most damage going two for three with a double and driving in two runs. Clay Caulfield went seven innings, scattering six hits for the win, while Fat Cats starter William Sebastien took the loss.
On Saturday, the Fat Cats would have to play the second game of their double header as the Barrie Bay Cats rolled into town for their two game series against the Fat Cats. The fresh Bay Cats bombed the Cats pitching with thrteen hits to take an 8-4 victory. Barrie first baseman John Waltenbury led the way going three for four, including a double and drove in two runs. Ottawa left fielder LaDale Hayes went 3-4 and drove in three of the four Fat Cats runs. Brad Bissel went eight innings for the win, while Ottawa starter Brett Sabourin did not make it past the fifth inning, and took the loss.
Sunday afternoon saw the closest game of the week-end as the Fat Cats edged the Baycats 3-2 in a three-run, bottom of the ninth rally. Trailing 2-0, Ottawa finally put some hits together and tied the game. Then with two out Cody Monbourquette’s clutch single drove in Ladale Hayes with the winning run. Starters R Dillabough for Barrie and M Hummel for Ottawa both pitched well, but it was reliever James Amelotte getting the win for Ottawa with Scott Kelly taking the loss.
