ATP – Day 8     Quarterfinals….

1. V. Pospisil (CAN) vs N. Davydenko (RUS)

Pospisil started off great winning his first service, then he broke Davydenko’s service and was on the way to be leading 40-0 when Davydenko withdrew from the game due to bronchitis and nausea.

Quite a close match between these two foes, with tight ref calls and Gulbis showing his temper by smashing his racket on the court. The first game required a tie breaker before Raonic won 7-6 (3)….The crowd cheered Roanic at all moments and at quite a few times they boo-ed Gulbis for his tempered behaviour.  Gulbis won the second game 6-4 and the third game went back and forth at first, with Gulbis repeatedly mocking the ref….Raonic eventually won 6-4.

3. N. Djokovic (SRB) vs R. Gasquet (FRA)

This match wasn’t much of a contest with Djokovic showing his power by winning 6-1, and 6-2 in a 48 minute quick game.  When fans may have doubted his #1 status yesterday in a tight game with Istomin, he showed his prowess today easily beating Gasquet. The highlight was his disco dancing with the mascot after the match.

Crowd favourite Nadal didn’t disappoint by winning his sets 6-2, 6-4 against Aussie Matosevic quickly, setting up a a tough semi final for himself against Novak Djokovic.
