The Ottawa 67’s came on strong in the first part of Sunday’s game against the Peterborough Petes when Aaron Bradford (#33) took the first goal in the first 4 minutes of the game. Shortly after, the first penalty was called on the 67’s Duchesne (#6) for goalie interference, which gave the Petes a powerplay and a goal to tie the game.
Later on in the period, a misconduct was called upon the Petes’ Taylor Davis (#18) which left Ottawa with an advantage in the last half of the period. However, this advantage was not enough to hold off the Petes’ strong offense who scored with 1 second left in the period.
The Second period started off with the Petes overtaking Ottawa and scoring in the first minute. Ottawa’s Michael Clarke (#25) responded to help the 67’s get back into the game. A serie of powerplay opportunities for the 67’s was not enough to take back Peterborough’s strong lead.
Ottawa tried coming back in the third period, combined with great saves by the Ottawa’s goalie Hebist (#1). However, that was not enough to redeem themselves. Peterborough ended up scoring three more in the third, winning the game 7-4.
With this win, the Pete’s remain ahead of the 67’s in the series.
The 67s are back in action on Wednesday, palying at home against the Kignston Frontenacs.
