Xavier Rudd returns to Ottawa

Xavier Rudd, the multi-instrumentalist, world class surfer, animal rights activist and nature conservationist, was back in Ottawa to perform at the Bronson Centre on Tuesday December 4th, 2012, as part of his Spirit Bird Tour.

As a multi-faceted musician who is constantly coming up with new ways to create music, Rudd’s widespread appeal transcends all genres.

He first left his mark on Ottawa performing at Bluesfest where his side-stage performance earned him a return engagement on the main stage the following day. He is considered to be one of Ottawa’s adopted sons, making frequent stops to the city who continues to follow him on his musical journey. Playing the didgeridoo, a slide guitar on his lap, banjos, harmonicas and percussion instruments he can play with his feet while his hands and mouth are busy.

With a near-capacity crowd in attendance, Xavier Rudd captured the audience who cheered him on as he played old favorites and listened attentively as he shared details about how he came to write the songs featured on his new album. As he spoke, the room fell to a complete silence; until the music started again and the atmosphere returned to one of celebration and dance. Mr Rudd brought us into his world and for a short while, time stood still…

Also performing  were the award-winning Ohnia:kara Singers and Perpetual Peace Project performed at the Bronson Centre in Ottawa, Ontarion Canada from the Niagara Region.
